After the intimate wedding in Tuscany, Virat and Anushka hosted a grand reception at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi. The newly-weds were in Sabyasachi ensembles and complemented each other gracefully. Virat wore a black and golden bandhgala sherwani with a hand-woven silk churidar, whereas Anushka looked royal in a red benarasi sari with uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from Sabyasachi’s bridal jewelry collection. Everything You Want To Know About The Virushka !

 

For the Mehendi ceremony, Virat mixed it up a bit and wore a khadi kurta churidaar with fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket, designed by Sabyasachi, which complemented Anushka’s vibrant lehenga. He grounded the look with a pair of tan leather juttis with a zardosi crest, specifically made for this ensemble.

When it came to the wedding itself, Virat did the sensible thing: He chose to keep things smooth and simple. His hand-embroidered ivory raw silk sherwani was made by Sabyasachi, who designed all of Anushka’s bridal dresses. He completed the ensemble with a rose silk Kota safa (turban) and a tussar stole with zardosi work along the border.

It truly was a beautiful ceremony, and the couple looked so in love. It was impossible not to notice Anushka, though, in her appropriately festive tomato red and gold Benarasi sari — a change from the dramatically embellished lehengas or gowns brides are known to opt for on their big night.

“I was particularly excited about this look because I have seen an entire generation of Bengali women getting married in red Benarasi sarees. The red bindi, the sindoor and the mogras in her hair just made the look more potent and powerful,” he wrote.

 

Sharma and Kohli got married in a private ceremony in a Tuscan resort in Italy on Monday. The list of attendees were only close family and friends as the couple wanted the wedding to be a small, cozy affair. The shaadi was as per Hindu rituals.
